Senior Accountant / Tax CPALocation: Troy, MI | 100% On-Site Position Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewA well-established, high-touch public accounting firm in Troy, Michigan is seeking a Senior Accountant / CPA with 8-15 years of public accounting experience and a strong focus on tax. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working directly with clients, preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, and contributing to a collaborative small-firm environment.The position also offers an established pathway toward partnership and firm ownership for the right individual.Key Responsibilities· Prepare and review individual, corporate, S-Corporation, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns.· Process and review complex tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.· Provide tax planning and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities.· Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and respond to technical accounting and tax questions.· Assist with audits, reviews, compilations, and financial statement preparation.· Apply knowledge of GAAP and applicable accounting and tax requirements.· Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.· Participate in client meetings, firm initiatives, and business development activities.· Contribute to firm management and strategic initiatives with the potential for advancement into a partnership role.Qualifications· Active CPA license required.· 8-15 years of progressive public accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on tax.· Extensive experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.· Public accounting audit, review, compilation, and financial statement experience.· Strong knowledge of tax compliance and planning.· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.· Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team.· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Software Requirements· Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS· SafeSend Returns· Experience with SurePrep and Onvio is preferred.· Strong overall proficiency with accounting and tax software.What We Offer· Competitive salary based on experience.· Defined pathway to partnership and potential equity ownership.· Health insurance.· Simple IRA.· Generous PTO and paid holidays.· Manageable busy-season hours with a strong commitment to work-life balance.· Collaborative, hands-on environment with direct access to firm leadership.
