Senior Tax Accountant
Trueline's client, a growing accounting and compliance services organization supporting nonprofits, ministers, and related organizations nationwide, is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team in Noblesville, Indiana.

Responsibilities
- Manage tax returns from preparation through final review and filing
- Review individual and business tax returns prepared by other team members
- Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and potential tax issues
- Communicate directly with clients to resolve questions and gather supporting documentation
- Finalize returns and ensure accuracy before submission
- Prepare and review primarily individual Form 1040 returns and related business returns
- Assist with Form 990 nonprofit returns as needed
- Develop expertise in clergy and ministerial tax matters
- Learn specialized tax treatment related to minister compensation and church-related organizations
- Partner closely with the Director of Tax Services and existing tax preparation staff
- Help organize and manage tax workflow during busy season
- Build trusted, long-term client relationships
- Support process improvements as the tax department grows
- Potentially assist with hiring, training, and mentoring additional tax professionals over time
- Take on increasing responsibility as the tax practice expands
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3+ years of professional tax experience preferred
- Hands-on tax preparation experience
- Strong individual Form 1040 experience
- Ability to manage a tax return independently through completion
- Experience reviewing or finalizing tax returns
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working directly with clients
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple returns and priorities simultaneously
- Sound professional judgment
- Stable work history preferred
- Ability to work primarily in-office in Noblesville
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation
- Enrolled Agent designation
- Form 990 experience
- Nonprofit tax experience
- Experience reviewing returns prepared by junior staff
- Experience with clergy or ministerial tax matters
- Public accounting experience
- Experience working with local, regional, or national tax firms
- Experience mentoring or training tax staff
- Interest in future tax department leadership
- Experience working in a growing tax practice

Pay
Base salary of $65,000-$85,000, depending on experience. Potential flexibility up to $90,000 for an exceptional candidate.
Schedule
- Primarily in-office schedule with hybrid flexibility for the right candidate

- Typical busy season of approximately 50 hours per week for roughly 6-8 weeks per year
