Senior Accountant
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant-Grant Accountant to join our dynamic team at Marymount University. This role involves managing all aspects of the accounting cycle, including AR/AP/Payroll and financial reporting, as well as pre- and post-award grant accounting. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with funders' guidelines, timely receipt of revenue, and accurate submission of financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Manage all accounts payable and properly code to grants or programs.
- Perform and support bank reconciliations process in accounting system.
- Prepare and submit grant invoices.
- Provide basic financial oversight for funds related to grant projects.
- Maintain and track the status of each program through its program life cycle.
- Work with grant managers and advise management team on preparing grant budgets for proposals.
- Monitor/track expenses for allowable uses of grant funds.
- Prepare budget-to-actual grant spending reports.
- Create and apply payments to grant and other customer invoices.
- Support AP and AR-related tasks.
- Prepare monthly report packages.
- Act as point of contact for annual audits.
Requirements
- Five or more years of accounting experience, with a minimum of two years in a nonprofit or government setting, with nonprofit and grant experience preferred.
- B.A. degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with Workday Financials.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and the ability to reconcile large transactional files (power queries, pivot tables and vlookup experience preferred).
- Timely responses to internal business units for general and grant related inquiries.

- Must have strong understanding of AP (Accounts Payable), AR (Account Receivable), payroll, General Ledger reconciliation, and Grant accounting.
- Experience with smaller organizations.

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000- $75,000.
