About the Role
Atlantic Group is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant in Bergen County, NJ for our client, supporting tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory services within a growing public accounting environment. This role will prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, conduct tax research, collaborate directly with clients, and support a variety of tax planning and consulting engagements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities while ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer tax-related questions, resolve notices, and provide ongoing support throughout the year.
- Review financial records, reconcile tax-related accounts, prepare supporting workpapers, and assist with estimated payments, extensions, and other compliance requirements.
- Perform tax research, support tax planning initiatives, and assist with resolving complex tax matters and regulatory inquiries.
- Analyze financial statements, general ledgers, and accounting records to ensure tax readiness and accurate reporting.
- Partner with firm leadership and accounting staff on client engagements while mentoring junior team members and supporting process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is preferred.
- 3+ years of public accounting tax experience preparing a variety of business and individual tax returns is required.
- Experience supporting closely held businesses, investment entities, or high-net-worth individuals is preferred.
- Experience with tax preparation software, Microsoft Excel, and accounting systems is required.
- Strong analytical, communication, client service, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines are required.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred.
