About the Role

Join the Rotary Wing Platform Systems Team within the Military Avionics group at Collins Aerospace. You will play a crucial role in developing and testing avionics for Special Operations Aviation (SOA) programs, pushing the boundaries of technology to enhance military helicopter platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for SOA helicopter programs, including creation of design artifacts, execution of test procedures, and lab testing.
  • Use tools such as DOORS, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft Office Suite, and SVN.
  • Develop avionics solutions for cockpit systems in SOA programs.
  • Navigate bids and pursuits while adhering to Collins Aerospace processes.
  • Lead customer discussions alongside program chiefs and architects.
  • Design system solutions and ensure integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrade programs.
  • Mentor other engineers within the Platform Systems team and across the department.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time as needed (domestic and possible international).

Requirements

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
  • Experience in a Systems Engineering role.
  • Ability to be onsite in Cedar Rapids for test events and test environment updates.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (and possibly internationally) up to 10% of the year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Collins Aerospace’s Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS).
  • Experience with DARs (Design Approval Representatives).
  • Experience with bids and pursuit processes.
  • Proficiency with TNT, DOORS, PREP, JIRA, and/or Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels and considers factors such as role, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
