Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Product Line Systems Engineer to join the Open Platforms Applications Software department in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role focuses on Systems technical aspects of software development within cross-functional AGILE teams (approximately 6-10 people) designing and developing software-only products. The team culture is collaborative and engaged, and experienced engineers participate in all aspects of the product life cycle, from bid and proposal to certification and support.

What You Will Do

  • Demonstrate time management skills — ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work
  • Assist in crafting operational plans and developing phased execution strategies to optimize daily workflows and scale production

  • Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas
  • Apply SysML concepts for System Modeling across a full engineering lifecycle
  • May serve as system lead in integration, verification and validation for large complex systems
  • Apply significant domain knowledge and knowledge of products, systems and applicable regulatory requirements across business units
  • Make decisions that may have a major impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Recommend new approaches, tools and techniques that drive continuous improvement in technical development processes
  • Mentor product development teams in the utilization of appropriate processes and tools during product development, thus increasing product quality and improving customer satisfaction
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international)

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience in software integration and testing at the system level

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Agile systems engineering experience
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect
  • Project planning and execution on programs
  • Experience in writing requirements specifications

Pay

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This is a Hybrid role — employees work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required after day 1.
