About the role

The Algorithms Senior Systems Engineer supports the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. Key responsibilities include running and testing modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using Simulink and MATLAB, conducting analysis for system trouble shooting, improving code quality through code reviews, and analyzing data using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Test algorithms and models for the JPALS program
  • Develop necessary tools to accomplish sufficient testing
  • Conduct analysis for system trouble shooting
  • Improve code quality by performing code reviews and good software practice
  • Analyze data using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Professional background specializing in performing complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling.
  • Experience in performing data analysis and problem solving (e.g. anomaly investigation).

Qualifications

  • Experience in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience in code optimization and/or numerical stability
  • Experience in the Systems Engineering discipline
  • Experience in reading and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis

Skills

  • Model-based Development work
  • Laboratory-based contributions on the target products
  • Ability to work on individual tasks under limited supervision or with a team to achieve operational targets
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with parties within and outside of own job function
  • Eventually responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within their job area
