About the Role

We are looking for Senior Systems Engineers in Algorithms to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program, focusing on the development of solutions for GPS Navigation Systems. This role involves highly technical work, including running and testing modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using Simulink and MATLAB. The successful candidate will document equations, derivations, and generate plots in MATLAB, as well as perform data and statistical analysis. This position requires the ability to work on individual tasks with limited supervision or collaborate with a team to achieve operational targets. The candidate must effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Over time, the candidate may provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of algorithms, tools, and models for the JPALS program
  • Conduct statistical analysis, probability theory, and Monte Carlo simulations
  • Perform independent research and analysis
  • Collaborate with a small team to conduct system troubleshooting and analysis
  • Understand technical papers and algorithm descriptions, integrating them into high-fidelity models
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and deliver team presentations

Requirements

  • Proficiency in MATLAB, including code optimization and numerical stability
  • Experience in data analysis and problem-solving (e.g., anomaly investigation)
  • Experience with model-driven design using Simulink and auto-generated code
  • Knowledge of basic software development principles: configuration control, collaborative development, and formal processes
  • Ability to read and develop algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions, derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system-level analysis
  • Understanding of systems engineering discipline
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling
  • Experience developing solutions for GPS Navigation Systems and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) theory
  • Familiarity with requirement development and sell-off
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork

Pay

The salary range for this role is $95,500 – $181,700 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
