About the Role
The Senior Systems Analyst is the lead of the Application Team at Tougaloo College Office of Information Technology (OIT). This role partners with end users to understand and optimize their business processes, helping them become more efficient and effective using technology. This high-impact position ensures highly available and secure messaging and identity platforms, supporting Tougaloo College’s drive for student success. The position reports to the Chief Information Officer at Tougaloo College.
Responsibilities
- Gather requirements, create functional specifications, test plans, and validate project deliverables, system upgrades, and operational tasks.
- Bridge the knowledge gap between OIT and various business units, maintaining continuity on critical processes and projects with remote consultants.
- Acquire institutional business process knowledge, provide business process improvement recommendations, and promote best practices.
- Work on complex projects or operational tasks, collaborating with remote consultants to ensure alignment with business clients.
- Serve as a backup for consultants during short-term or emergency situations.
- Troubleshoot errors and issues encountered by end users, providing resolutions to ensure client satisfaction.
- Train end users or technical support staff to use and support programs.
- Ensure customer satisfaction until project completion.
- Create or maintain documentation, including user guides, handbooks, and functional specifications.
- Secure and manage on-premises Exchange and Office 365 solutions.
- Secure and manage on-premises Active Directory and cloud identity solutions.
- Provide continuous improvement to processes and procedures within the Office 365 environment.
- Work with architects, integration engineers, and developers to integrate systems with identity solutions.
- Enhance monitoring and auditing capabilities on messaging and identity platforms.
- Work occasional nights and weekends to handle outages and maintenance windows.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for production systems.
- Collaborate as part of a team, share knowledge, mentor, and maintain a positive attitude.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in an IT corporate environment, with at least 3 years as an enterprise-level Messaging Engineer working with Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 Exchange Online.
- 4+ years of experience with Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Demonstrated experience gaining and maintaining client trust, including managing communications and expectations.
- Experience working on enterprise projects involving a variety of end-users or clients.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing priorities.
- Experience analyzing and documenting data flows at a high level.
- Good understanding of Role-Based Access Controls and Privileged Access Management.
- Good understanding of IP networking and services.
- Internally motivated with the ability to own problems and solve them.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues.
- Multi-year experience maintaining secure production environments.
- Ability to plan, hold yourself and others accountable, and follow up effectively.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills with a “can-do,” customer-first attitude.
- Focus on continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies, and problem-solving techniques.

Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of higher education-related business processes (e.g., Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Registrar, Accounts Receivable, Admissions, Academic Affairs, and/or Advancement).
- ERP/SIS experience.
