Senior Survey Crew Chief
About the role
This position entails leading a two-or three-person survey field crew and mentoring staff to accurately and efficiently perform field surveys in support of land development, transportation, utility, energy, and land surveying projects using conventional, GPS, or terrestrial laser scanning methodology.
Responsibilities
- Leading a two-or three-person survey field crew
- Mentoring staff to perform topographic, ODOT, ALTA and boundary surveys, as well as construction staking
- Hands-on experience with Trimble GPS and/or Conventional equipment preferred
- CST Level I or Level II preferred, but not required
- DOT experience preferred, but not required
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license
- Physical capabilities to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
- Strong ability to learn new material quickly
- Willingness to follow specific instructions communicated through various methods
- Proficiency in modern communication methods and effective use of smart portable devices
- Commitment to adhering to Halff and client safety standards at all times while performing field duties
- High level of dependability, discipline, and responsibility, with consistent punctuality and professionalism as a representative of Halff
- Ability to provide direction and leadership to field survey teams, ensuring efficient data collection and adherence to safety protocols
- Ability to interpret construction and engineering plans, blueprints, surveys, and legal documents related to land boundaries and rights of way
- Ability to maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accurate measurements and safe operation
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and techniques
- Proficiency in operating conventional surveying instruments such as robotic total stations, digital levels, and data collectors
- Proficiency in using GPS and geospatial technologies for accurate data collection and analysis
- Familiarity with Trimble Business Center (TBC) and computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ORD) to process and analyze survey data
- Ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide surveying expertise and support project goals
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges encountered during surveys
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and clearly convey technical information
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple surveying projects simultaneously
- Able to report to work earlier than usual start time, beginning at 7am, Monday through Friday
- Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines
- Travel is generally required for position, up to 50% per month
- Able to pass a drug and background screen
- Candidates must be local or within reasonable proximity to the Oklahoma City area
- Excellent physical condition to perform field work outdoors in various conditions
- Must be able to travel to various project sites
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas

Schedule
