Senior Surgical Technologist
Location: Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, Columbia, MD 21044
Schedule: Night Shift, Part-time (36 hours), No call/weekends required
About the Role
The Senior Surgical Technologist, under the supervision of an RN, possesses advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique and is able to anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure. This role serves as a resource for specialty cases, demonstrates working knowledge of specialty equipment and instrumentation, acts as a primary preceptor for inexperienced Surgical Technicians, and supports staff orienting to the scrub role in the operating room.
Responsibilities
- Anticipate instrumentation and equipment needs for surgical procedures.
- Serve as a resource for specialty cases and specialty equipment/instrumentation.
- Act as a primary preceptor for inexperienced Surgical Technicians.
- Support and mentor staff orienting to the scrub role in the operating room.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Associate degree in Allied Health or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience preferred.
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, the Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology, or the National Center for Competency Testing.
- At least 2 years of operating room experience as a surgical technologist.
Pay
Salary Range: $28.39/hour – $46.87/hour. Compensation will be based on experience and equity for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
