Midwest Vision Partners is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented RN Senior Surgical Coordinator to provide clinical and operational support to our ophthalmologists and surgical teams across the perioperative process.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient movement and flow through Pre-Op, testing areas, and the Operating Room, ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical day
- Deliver direct patient care across all phases of the perioperative process, including admissions, intraoperative support, anesthesia recovery, and discharge
- Assist the surgeon with clinical tasks and operative procedures, including preparation and handling of instruments, devices, and intraocular lenses
- Manage patient charts, operative documentation, and diagnosis/procedure code selection to maintain medical record accuracy and compliance
- Assess patient understanding of their procedure and provide pre- and post-operative teaching tailored to individual needs
- Communicate proactively with patients, families, and the surgical team—using translation services when needed—to ensure clarity and coordination throughout care
- Maintain aseptic technique, infection control standards, and safe medication administration practices
- Select, organize, and manage surgical equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference cards, anticipating needs before they arise
- Participate in quality assurance (QAPI) initiatives to support patient safety and continuous improvement
- Serve as a resource and role model for clinical staff, supporting orientation and training of new team members
Requirements
- Current Ohio RN license and BLS certification required
- 2+ years of clinical experience with an emphasis in PACU, surgery, or critical care
- Working knowledge of ASC or hospital operating room environments, including perioperative care coordination
- Familiarity with regulatory standards, medical record policy, and compliance requirements in a surgical setting
- ACLS preferred
