About the Role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a motivated leader to join our Microelectronics Fabrication team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This individual will lead a team of approximately 20 lab technicians and oversee the fabrication and testing of microelectronics from raw material to final product, with no third-party processes involved. Key processes include lithography, plating, planarization, electrical testing, and hermetic testing. The ideal candidate is a driven, people-first leader who can evaluate manufacturing processes and collaborate with engineering organizations. This role is accountable for the output and inventory metrics of the Microelectronics Fabrication team, which supports internal customers critical to business success.

This role is performed onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA, and is eligible for relocation assistance. The position requires working on the production floor 80% of the work week and at a desk 20% of the time. Work hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all quality-related items for multiple cells or a complex cell are complete and documented to meet established quality standards.
• Guide cost reduction and process improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Plan and execute scheduling for multiple cells or a complex cell to meet production schedules.
• Guide the sequencing of work (e.g., build and delivery) to optimize productivity.
• Supervise materials and logistics problem resolution to ensure smooth operations and material availability.
• Manage cell performance and productivity to maximize output.
• Guide production innovation, including additive manufacturing, to enhance production capabilities.
• Interface with customers to understand needs and ensure satisfactory service standards.
• Oversee production operations, including shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management.
• Manage and supervise manufacturing production disciplines in the Operations function.
• Perform professional or management work across multiple Manufacturing disciplines.

The role challenges you to be organized, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively from the frontline to senior leadership. You will grow your leadership skills with a high-performing Integrated Product Team (IPT) and tackle evolving problem sets daily.

Requirements

• University Degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing or engineering experience with microelectronics fabrication (plating and lithography).
• Knowledge and experience working in a clean room environment.
• Experience coordinating efforts with internal and external facilities organizations.
• SAP knowledge.
• Manufacturing experience in aerospace or automotive industries.
• Leadership experience with teams including production and maintenance roles.
• Experience with collective bargaining units.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, depending on the level of the position and whether it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments are not guaranteed and depend on individual, business unit, and company performance.

Schedule

• Work hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Occasional weekend support may be required as needed.
• 80% of time spent on the production floor, 20% at a desk.
