Senior Superintendent - Commercial Projects - Phoenix

About the role

As a Superintendent, you will oversee project execution, ensuring compliance with specifications, contracts, and quality standards. You will manage schedules, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors while controlling costs and maintaining safety, health, and cleanliness standards. The role involves coordinating with project managers and owners, leading inspections, resolving job-related issues, and fostering a culture of accountability. You will also handle project closeout, demobilization, and transition to the owner.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly understand project specifications, contract general conditions, and ensure compliance of materials and subcontractor work.
• Execute the established schedule and maintain consistent communication on progress with project managers and owners.
• Organize, coordinate, and supervise Foremen and employees on the job site.
• Determine work priorities, estimate manpower needs, and assign tasks based on abilities or specialized training.
• Coordinate and track job-site materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Manage labor costs, monitor project expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to meet budget.
• Train employees on work standards, job duties, safety regulations, and site rules.
• Maintain project documents, including equipment reports, activity logs, safety reports, and timekeeping records.
• Lead daily inspections to enforce conformity to contract specifications and ensure quality control.
• Act as an advisor on job-related problems and manage employee performance and discipline as needed.
• Promote a culture valuing safety, health, and cleanliness.
• Finalize project closeout, demobilize resources, and transition the project to the owner with the Project Manager.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Construction Management or similar field, Journeyman status in a building trade, or a combination of high school diploma with relevant experience and certifications.
• Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience on complex projects.
• Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and specifications for institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Proficiency in developing relationships with key stakeholders, including owners, subcontractors, project managers, and field employees.
• Solid understanding of project cost analysis.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and other construction industry software.
• Ability to travel and work in remote locations.

Pay

Base salary up to $160,000, based on experience, with both company and personal bonuses.
