Duties and Responsibilities
- Cookordinate all trades throughout the project
- Responsible for the quality, safety, and on time completion of the contracted work
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.)
- Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract
- May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisition, field design, change requests, etc.
- Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretations of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required
- Coordinate and schedule material and equipment deliveries
- Optimize use of tools and equipment to eliminate unnecessary rental costs
- Serve as chief safety officer on the project. Responsible for overall safety of the project
- Hold weekly ToolBox Safety Meetings
- Fill out daily construction reports and turn originals into the office weekly (keep file copies on site)
- With the project engineer, schedule pre-construction meetings for all major trades
- Keep track of all extra work done on a time and material basis and on unit price basis
- Fill out extra work order ticket; get ticket signed by responsible party and turn in to Project Administrator
- Verify quantities of all material deliveries. Turn in delivery tickets to Project Administrator
- Order miscellaneous materials, tools, equipment, rentals, etc.
- Record and cost code all M-M labor on project daily, and turn in to accounting weekly
- Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
- Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc.
- Document all violations, notify project management and recommend/implement corrective action as required
- Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project
Qualifications
- Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum of eight years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
- Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential
- Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see well (naturally or with correction)
