Design high-voltage 12kV-500kV+ substation projects.
Work with a collaborative, experienced Power Delivery team.

Job Description

  • Develop physical design packages for AIS and GIS substations ranging from 12kV-500kV+
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings including:
    • General arrangement plans
    • Plan and elevation views
    • Equipment layouts
    • Control building layouts
    • Conduit and trench plans
    • Grounding layouts
    • Lightning protection plans
    • Bus and rigid bus layouts
    • Structural steel and foundation drawings
  • Prepare material take-offs (MTOs) and Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Coverge physical design with Protection & Controls, Civil/Structural, Transmission Line, and Project Management teams
  • Perform site walkdowns and incorporate field conditions into design packages
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with client standards, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and utility specifications
  • Support construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and incorporating as-built revisions
  • Lead design reviews with internal teams and clients
  • Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance on drafting standards and best practices

Requirements

  • 8+ years of substation physical design experience
  • Experience designing utility substations from 69kV-500kV (higher voltage preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of: Physical layout design, grounding systems, conduit and cable routing, bus design, equipment clearances, structural coordination
  • Experience supporting EPC, utility, or consulting engineering projects
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams

Pay
