About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Managing Engineer with a strong technical background to help deliver exceptional service to our clients. The Senior Managing Engineer will work on a variety of water-related projects, including but not limited to: fisheries, fish passage, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, water treatment, storm water, surface water management planning, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships.
- Actively participate in developing relationships with key clients, professional service organizations, and conferences/events.
- Conduct or participate in workshops and meetings with clients.
- Identify project opportunities, actively pursue them, and prepare proposals.
- Consult with clients to plan and develop strategies for their water resource needs.
- Work cooperatively with Practice Leads, Discipline Leads, and Operations Managers in local and national marketing efforts.
- Conduct kick-off meetings with key stakeholders to announce project start, review the overall project plan, and gain consensus.
- Identify high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan.
- Effectively manage multi-discipline teams for a wide range of water resources projects and tasks.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor progress, identify variances, and perform corrective actions.
- Execute tasks as defined in the project plan to achieve project goals.
- Identify key project team members by defining roles and responsibilities to create a project organization structure.
- Implement approved actions and workarounds to mitigate project risk events.
- Improve team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, and training.
- Evaluate and design water infrastructure projects and other civil engineering support tasks, including treatment facilities and distribution/conveyance facilities.
- Develop detailed designs, plans, and specifications for infrastructure projects, including pipeline storage and pump station design for storm drain, recycled water, and wastewater collection systems.
- Prepare or oversee preparation of planning reports, plans and specifications, and cost estimates for water, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Manage planning, design, and construction support services for water, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure projects (Design Project Manager).
- Design storm water management systems for water quality and quantity control.
- Prepare drainage, soil erosion and sediment control, utility relocation, right-of-way, staging, and construction plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for water resources and transportation projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 18+ years of experience in civil and/or hydraulic engineering.
- Professional Engineering registration is required; California PE registration strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure, including fishery-related projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and pump stations.
- Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
Pay
$154,000 - $230,000 (DOE).
