About the role
Stantec has an immediate need for talented, team-focused Senior Structural Engineers with 10 or more years of design experience. This position offers opportunities to challenge yourself professionally on a variety of transportation projects, from local bridge rehabilitations to iconic bridge designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and construction cost estimate development
- Assist the project manager in developing special provisions and specifications for DOT and Municipal clients
- Review contractor submittals and prepare responses to requests for information during construction
- Evaluate existing structures and develop load ratings
- Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as pre-TS&L and TS&L reports for bridge replacement projects
- Develop pre-scoping reports to help clients determine whether a bridge should be rehabilitated or replaced
- Perform inspections of simple and complex bridges and prepare inspection reports
Requirements
- PE required
- Extensive knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications
- Experience with MDOT SHA, MDTA, and VDOT design criteria and requirements
- Experience with MicroStation
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 or more years of bridge design experience
- Inspection experience including large complex bridges and bridges with fracture critical members
- Valid driver's license and good driving record

Skills
- Bridge load rating experience preferred
- Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation
- Successful completion of FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training course preferred

Pay and Schedule
- Annual salary range: $117,800.00 - $176,800.00 in some locations
- Annual salary range: $126,400.00 - $189,600.00 in other locations
- Full-time position
