About the role
The Houston office of Arup is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering team. This role can be based in either Austin or Dallas.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber and masonry buildings in accordance with building code and design standards.
- Perform lateral analyses of structures for seismic and wind loading.
- Prepare and review drawings detailing the systems designed.
- Complete design calculations for structural systems for permit submittals.
- Cover coordination work with engineers of other disciplines and with architectural teams and contractors.
- Review submittals prepared by contractors and respond to requests for information, perform construction site visits to observe the progress of construction.
- Communicate our structural engineering designs to our clients and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals as they relate to building systems.
- 7+ years related experience in structural design and engineering.
- Interest and experience in Data Center Design and/or Rail market are preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP, etc.).
- Collaboration demands strong communication skills and excellent planning and organizational abilities, which are vital for our fast-paced setting.
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to tackle new challenges.
- PE license required, SE license preferred.

Pay
The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Houston is $112,000 to $129,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.
