About the role

The Los Angeles office of Arup is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Structural Engineering team. The team works on a variety of building projects across different geographies, including arts and culture, science, industry, technology, property, and healthcare. Notable projects include the LAX/Metro Transit Center, (W)rapper Tower, California Science Center, and the Guggenheim Museum Abu Dhabi.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry buildings in accordance with building codes and design standards.
  • Perform lateral analyses of structures for seismic and wind loading.
  • Prepare and review drawings detailing the systems designed.
  • Complete design calculations for structural systems for permit submittals.
  • Coverage work with engineers of other disciplines and with architectural teams and contractors.
  • Review submittals prepared by contractors and respond to requests for information, perform construction site visits to observe the progress of construction.
  • Communicate structural engineering designs to clients and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals as they relate to building systems.
  • 7+ years related experience in structural design and engineering.
  • Interest and experience in Data Center Design and/or Rail market are preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and excellent planning and organizational abilities.
  • Motivated, proactive, and willing to tackle new challenges.
  • PE license required, SE license preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

Skills

Pay

The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Los Angeles is $112,000 to $129,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.
