Responsibilities
- Supporting cutting-edge technology projects

- Taking on exciting challenges
- Contributing to the advancement of safe and reliable nuclear power generation
- Collaborating with a team of structural engineers
- Interface with engineers from other disciplines
- Guiding the work of less experienced project team members
- Working with a structural engineering team on engineering projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants
- Preparing and reviewing design calculations
- Developing specifications
- Supporting designers with drawing development
- Leading others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution
- Setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- Providing guidance on the use of AI or agentic AI tools
- Performing structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations
- Traveling to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
- Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- MSCE degree (valued, but not required)
- Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures
- On-site construction support experience
- PE or SE license
Skills
- Willingness or ability to lead others who use modern tools
- Leadership in automation and process-improvement work
- Ability to oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel)
- Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields
