Senior Structural Bridge Engineer
About the role
We are hiring a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to join our team in the Jacksonville, FL Urban office. The role operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office requirements fulfilled at our client's Jacksonville office. Responsibilities include designing bridges and other ancillary structures, using OpenRoad Modeler, problem-solving, quality control checks, and occasional project management.
Responsibilities
- Designing bridges and other ancillary structures using OpenRoad Modeler.
- Perform design using OpenBridge Modeler (OBM), with working proficiency and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Collaborate with other FDOT staff members in the Main District Lake City office for complex projects.
- Select problems for investigation, develop novel approaches and solutions to technical problems.
- Conduct quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations, and specifications.
- Keep abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in structural engineering.
- Recommend changes or improvements to plans and programs.
- Function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects, including marketing, contract negotiation, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination, and resources allocation.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, with M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
- This level may be achieved by Engineers with 4-10 years of experience.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
- Experience with OpenBridge Modeler is preferred; bring working proficiency and a commitment to professional development.
- Open to minimal travel to the Main District Lake City office.
- Experience with FDOT is a plus.
- Strong technical writing and communications skills are expected at this level.

- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay
The expected compensation range is between $90,000-$150,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
