Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager - Remote

About the role

Accountable for leading, guiding and directing the functional responsibilities within Facilities and Local sourcing. Enables ministry-level or enterprise-wide functional strategy to address internal or external business and regulatory issues. Provides functional expertise and ensures fulfillment of performance and service standards. Responsible for consistent operating performance and achieving financial goals. Identifies, defines and solves complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. Collaborates with Services Areas, Regions and Health Ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations while maintaining awareness of new industry developments and standards. Provides decision support, operations and/or optimization leadership focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, guidance and leadership to RHM and Region leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.
• Enable collaboration across and within service area, RHM and Regions to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations.
• Provide advice, guidance and leadership to service area, functional area, RHM and Regions.
• Lead standardization/systemness and optimization of policy, process, methodology, establishing a national community of practice.
• Oversee vendor/contract labor management including centralizing strategy and optimizing spend.
• Collaborate in system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives.
• Support regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities.
• Accountable for the selection, evaluation and overall success of the functional leadership teams.
• Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing.
• Accountable for communication between service area functional area, RHM and Region leaders.
• Responsible for measuring and reporting KPIs/metrics and value delivery.
• Provide advice, guidance and leadership for the colleague life cycle.
• Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior and safe work practices.
• Lead strategic sourcing activities for complex initiatives with the ability/goal of achieving significant cost reductions, supplanted with year-over-year cost and productivity improvements in the total cost of goods and services procured while maintaining or improving product quality and vendor service levels.
• Lead, facilitate, assemble and manage cross-functional teams across the System with Regional Health Ministries to drive system-wide priorities, achieve cost reductions, service and quality excellence, and knowledge transfer for replication of best practice.
• Develop, execute and communicate strategies in collaboration with senior-level management, Value Analysis, Operations, TIS and key stakeholders on overall process, timing and objectives.
• Manage relationships to ensure internal customers and stakeholders are actively engaged.
• Direct the personnel and financial activities of functional area colleagues as assigned.
• Set priorities and goals for the sourcing team and ensure objectives are consistent with system and departmental goals.
• Conduct annual reviews with direct reports, manage performance issues and promote colleague career development.
• Responsible for hiring, orienting, managing, promoting, disciplining and terminating direct report colleagues.
• Provide leadership guidance to colleagues in adherence to the System strategic sourcing process.
• Represent the Strategic Sourcing Director to fill temporary vacancies or as otherwise required.
• Promote a lean/process excellence culture and participate in joint quality improvement initiatives with SO and RHM colleagues.
• Motivate and lead strategic sourcing lean program initiatives to increase productivity and improve end-to-end process efficiencies.
• Engage suppliers in the selection processes and maintain business relationships that are conducted legally, ethically and in accordance with Trinity Health Policies/Procedures and the Organizational Integrity Program.
• Develop a primary liaison for key suppliers within the assigned category and conduct business reviews with key suppliers.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for all category supplier engagement questions from Trinity colleagues.
• Maintain business relationships with the GPO leadership and staff; provide input on sourcing strategy and represent Trinity on advisory boards as assigned.
• Plan, manage and oversee the life cycle of complex medium and large sourcing projects involving multiple stakeholders, significant facilitation, standardization and process change to multiple business units.
• Utilize Supply Chain Management’s digital systems, including strategic sourcing and contract lifecycle management applications, and ensure adoption and use by team.
• Advance strategic initiatives for the organization by providing leadership and direction to standing advisory teams.
• Create an overall value equation for presentation and review with advisory teams for system-wide recommendations.
• Partner with the Finance department to ensure that forecasted savings are validated.
• Ensure effective handoff of executed contracts to business owner, Supply Chain verticals and other stakeholder departments as applicable, including accurate PO placement, contract value and milestones, and implementation expectations.
• Track and measure supplier performance against scorecards on an ongoing basis; conduct supplier business reviews as necessary.
• Facilitate dialogue with local business owners, RHM senior management and Supply Chain staff to remove barriers when necessary; engage suppliers and RHMs to ensure timely resolution of service issues.
• Establish procedures for managing a comprehensive sourcing process for assigned products/services across Trinity Health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, supply chain management, portfolio-specific clinical discipline or a related field, and seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in a multi-entity and multi-level organization, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing, in-depth knowledge of contract portfolio and demonstrated ability to provide complex financial analysis.
• Comprehensive knowledge and skills in advanced data analytics and procurement practices including intermediate to advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar applications, vendor relationships and market analysis for trends.
• Ability to develop work plans and lead a team of sourcing professionals with proven ability to translate category insights into sourcing strategies and measurable business outcomes.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Operations and technical problem-solving concepts and techniques.
• Demonstrated skills in all aspects of project management from initialization through completion utilizing detailed work plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and grow supplier and system stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to independently lead, consult, negotiate and communicate to engage physicians, executives and all levels of the organization to influence and drive results.
• Ability to address conflict, along with willingness and desire to challenge conventional thinking from all levels throughout the organization, including senior-level management.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and perform cost analysis with a solid understanding of financial management.
