Senior Strategic Mining Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Strategic Mining Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex mining projects across North America. The successful candidate will support mining projects from early-stage studies through detailed engineering and construction support while serving as a senior technical resource for multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and expertise on mining projects, including feasibility studies, design, and construction support.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering discipline leads to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for multidisciplinary teams, ensuring best practices and innovative solutions are applied.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations for mining projects.
• Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, presentations, and client engagements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with a focus on strategic and technical leadership.
• Proven track record of delivering complex mining projects from concept through construction.
• Strong knowledge of mining industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in mining software and tools (e.g., MineSight, Surpac, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Willingness to travel to project sites across North America as needed.
