About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer 2 - Stamping role at Strattec is a mid-level engineering position responsible for the efficient design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems to support the stamping production value stream.
Responsibilities
- Develop layouts, drawings, specifications, test methods, process flow diagrams, FMEA’s and control plans.
- Manage the specification and implementation of equipment, tooling and processes throughout the product life cycle (development, launch, continuous improvement, service and end of life).
- Coordinate the launch of new programs, including new equipment, tooling and processes, ensuring a smooth transition into production with minimal problems.
- Define and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives for scrap, material flow, manufacturing setup issues, or the reduction of other process-related costs.
- Investigate new equipment capabilities and develop plans to utilize new technology.
- Participate as a manufacturing process engineer in cross-functional teams.
- Assist in advanced product planning for new designs, including capital requisitions as necessary.
- Participate in process validation activities during advanced product quality planning.
- Perform additional engineering responsibilities as assigned by a senior engineer or manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience or equivalent experience as evaluated by the hiring manager.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, periodicals, and journals with support from more senior team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
- Past experience with problem-solving methodologies.
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and strong organizational skills.
- Experience managing multiple deliverables in a complex environment.
- Understanding of manufacturing and process engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with stamping manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with AIAG documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with working in a union environment is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering.
- 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience as evaluated by the hiring manager.
