About the Role

Drive technical leadership within the engineering team, architecting and developing scalable full stack applications, influencing technical decisions, and solving challenging engineering problems. Advance Avail renter technology, tools, and data to solve key customer pain points and shape the core technology to best serve our business and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of complex systems and services ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design) to deliver innovative solutions aligned with business goals.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and senior engineers, helping to level up the team’s skill set.
• Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability to ensure long-term sustainability.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Influence and contribute to the engineering roadmap by identifying technology gaps, scaling challenges, and potential areas of improvement.
• Research and evaluate new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the team's efficiency and scalability.
• Act as a technical expert, providing guidance in troubleshooting and debugging complex issues in production.
• Participate in recruitment, interviews, and onboarding to help grow the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or staff-level engineering role.
• Expertise in designing and building full stack applications.
• Strong programming skills in Ruby on Rails.
• Experience leading engineering initiatives and mentoring other engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and influence decision-making.
