Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: Professional Job Type: Full-time Posted On: Tue Sep 8 2026 Job Description: Farmingdale State College seeks a Senior Staff Psychologist to join its Campus Mental Health Services department. Under the general supervision of the Director, the Senior Staff Psychologist serves as one of the lead counselors in providing direct services, conducting clinical assessments, developing and implementing mental health programs for the campus community, and offering referrals and consultation to faculty and staff regarding developmental and psychological needs of college students. Key Responsibilities Provide psychotherapy to Farmingdale State College students. Respond to crises and collaborate with other campus departments to ensure effective crisis response, communication, and planning on a 24-hour basis. Provide referrals to off-campus resources and coordinate with hospitals and unaffiliated providers for psychiatric and other behavioral health care. Provide consultation, education, and outreach to Farmingdale State College faculty and staff. Provide clinical supervision to trainee psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors. Participate in departmental meetings and training. Maintain professional development through participation in conferences and professional organizations to remain current in the field and support an evolving student population. Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner. Promote and maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect within a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the College. Perform other duties as assigned. This position requires a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours and a 24/7 on-call schedule. Job Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Eligibility for licensure or limited permit to practice psychology in New York. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health care. Proficiency with Titanium or other electronic health records, Microsoft Office, and Google applications, including word processing and spreadsheets. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, group facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and constituencies. Exceptional organization and planning, and collaborative skills. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years of experience in higher education mental health services. Experience providing therapy to and advocacy for a diverse population. Training in and experience providing therapy to neurodiverse people and those with executive functioning difficulties. Additional Information This is a full-time UUP position. For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and ending Monday, September 21, 2026, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
