Senior Staff Accountant (Tax & Corporate Accounting)
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team in a unique hybrid role that combines corporate accounting and tax responsibilities. This position is approximately 50% corporate accounting and 50% tax, making it an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety and wants exposure to both financial reporting and tax compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Aid with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze financial results and provide reporting to management.
- Support internal reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Prepare tax work papers and supporting schedules for federal, state, and local tax filings.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external tax preparers and advisors.
- Cook up tax-related information.
- Aid with tax planning initiatives and respond to tax-related inquiries.
- Support tax provision and compliance activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support tax filings and audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to both corporate accounting and tax.
- CPA or active pursuit of CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing tax work papers and coordinating with outside tax firms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
