About the role
This position will be responsible for mechanical component manufacture, assembly, and integration into rocket engine and power systems products. Responsibilities include designing and planning layout for component fabrication, assembly, and material handling, as well as planning the sequence of operations and specifying procedures.
Responsibilities
- 35% - Managing Projects: Manage processes in accordance with Lean methodology, including process certification, process improvement methods (e.g., Kaizen, 3P, VSM), and other lean tools. Prepare, develop, and defend key strategic manufacturing plans, risk assessments, and proposals targeting customer and business goals. Differentiate between suppliers based on technical and business capabilities. Develop rework dispositions and work instructions for components, assemblies, and materials.
- 20% - Developing and Implementing Manufacturing and Assembly Process Improvements: Determine tooling requirements to safely support and maintain dimensional requirements, machine loading, setups, and hardware handling instructions.
- 20% - Welding Support: Develop and implement welding processes for complex configurations on a wide range of material types. Determine tooling requirements for welding and support dimensional requirements.
- 15% - Change Management: Use engineering and business software (Creo CAD, Windchill PLM, Oracle MRP & MES, MS Office) to monitor hardware design configuration updates, specification updates, and procedure updates. Incorporate changes into manufacturing support items (MBOMs, work instructions, CNC programs, special tooling) to maintain alignment between engineering and manufacturing configurations. Support design change reviews.
- 10% - Tight Tolerance Machining Support: Determine complex design geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for machining and measuring methods. Perform risk assessments to eliminate risks to personnel and environment while accurately assessing and communicating risks to hardware and facility.
A small amount of travel may be required. Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Pay
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $96,000 - $178,000. Final offer amount may vary based on factors including experience and geographic location.
Schedule
9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days (totaling 80 hours worked) and have every other Friday off.
