Senior Specialist, Knowledge Management (AMS - Aerospace and Defense)
About the role
You’ll join the Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) department as part of the Knowledge Management team and work with a variety of different Practices at Bain, broadening your skillset and leveraging industry knowledge across various industries and capabilities. This role supports the Advanced Manufacturing & Services practice, with the primary focus on the Global A&D sector (Aerospace, Defense, Government Services, Space).
Responsibilities
- Equip global A&D Partners and consulting staff with relevant expertise and resource recommendations
- Provide value-added front-line support to case teams by sharing curated "best of" Bain content, experience and perspectives
- Identify and connect experts within the Bain network to consulting teams
- Collaborate with Research Data Service and the Commercial Aviation CoE BCN team to provide consultants the best consolidated view of internal and external knowledge
- Develop and package summary documents and provide updated or bespoke analysis
- Lead the capture and sharing of the global A&D practice knowledge base
- Capture and process knowledge onto the global intranet platform from client development and case team efforts
- Coordinate with other Senior Knowledge Specialists to identify cross practice content priorities and identify gaps in the knowledge base
- Communicate with case teams and practice affiliates to understand work and solicit most relevant content
- Manage metadata to facilitate user searching and manage inputs to improve advanced analytics and AI output
- Maintain and expand the A&D internal benchmark library by capturing and sanitizing data from A&D cases
- Access and leverage A&D external industry data subscriptions to extract relevant insights
- Package and codify our best thinking into insights for front-line teams
- Collaborate with practice team members to fill content gaps through new product development and deployment
- Manage and maintain practice page(s) on the intranet
- Oversee Knowledge Associate in managing and maintaining the knowledge base
- Use AI tools to accomplish portions of the role and experiment with new and existing AI tools to improve work processes
- Contribute to the development and execution of the practice strategy
- Analyze, understand and interpret underlying drivers of practice performance
- Support content planning and logistics for annual practice meetings
- Drive practice affiliate engagement, including preparation for experience-sharing calls and publications
- Actively contribute to the practice and broader PPK team
- Participate in (and sometimes lead) global team trainings, group projects, experience sharing, mentoring, and other initiatives
- Assign and review daily work and provide feedback and coaching on junior practice member's work
Qualifications
- BA or equivalent undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Intellectually curious with an interest and/or prior experience within the Aerospace & Defense industry sector
- Strong analytical abilities and experience bringing innovative and 'outside the box' approaches to problem solving
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment with multiple priorities
- Attentive to detail and very organized with a reputation for high-quality work
- Regular user of AI tools with a growth mindset about their use
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously while appreciating guided coaching and collaborative teaming
- Superior customer service attitude with a positive mindset and high energy and enthusiasm
- Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to engage senior executives and team with colleagues globally across time zones
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Pay
Base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with annual employer contribution based on years of service, and comprehensive benefits package. In Texas, the good-faith reasonable annualized full-time salary range is between $88,500 - $106,250, with placement varying based on experience, education, licensure/certifications, training, and skill level.
