About the Role
The Business Development and Marketing Senior Specialist will support the business development and marketing strategies for the Health Care & Life Sciences Sector. This role involves strong project management to execute initiatives that enhance market visibility, drive client development programs, and generate revenue. The position is highly collaborative, bridging short-term projects and long-term strategy to support attorneys and offices in revenue generation and brand enhancement.
Responsibilities
- Work with sector and Area of Focus leaders, partners, and BD & Marketing leadership to identify and execute profile-raising, business development, and sector involvement initiatives aligned with the sector business plan.
- Collaborate with attorneys and team members to identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities through initiatives and client team programs.
- Assist attorneys in developing strategic plans for priority sector clients, target accounts, and emerging industry opportunities.
- Promote sector activities via social media posts and guide attorneys with LinkedIn posts.
- Conduct research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for deepening client relationships, expanding the client base, and increasing visibility.
- Manage the execution of events, conferences/seminars, client entertainment, and receptions, including logistics, invitations, materials, follow-up communications, and ROI tracking.
- Track event performance metrics and recommend strategies to improve engagement and revenue generation.
- Utilize the firm’s CRM database (Dynamics) for external mailings, reporting, and business development data access.
- Maintain the integrity of the firm’s experience database, collaborating with PR and CRM teams and attorneys to collect and organize experience, update sector collateral, and refresh attorney bios.
- Develop customized pitches, RFPs, presentations, and sector marketing materials.
- Write submissions for major award programs aligned to the sector.
- Track and monitor all memberships and sponsorships, including ROI analysis.
- Assist in the creation and monitoring of budgets for the sector.
- Develop relationships with organizations to identify committee and Board opportunities for business development and profile purposes.
- Oversee drafting and completion of award/directory submissions (e.g., Chambers) for legal and business publications.
- Drive the development and promotion of sector thought leadership, including articles, alerts, webinars, podcasts, and speaking opportunities.
- Partner with attorneys to identify timely market topics and develop client-facing content.
- Leverage Foley’s marketing technology to identify potential leads and track and manage opportunities and pursuits.
- Collaborate with all teams within the Business Development and Marketing Department, including Communications, Events, Client Development, RFP/Proposal, Competitive Intelligence, Sectors and Industries, Branding and Creative Services, and Marketing Systems and Operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of general marketing experience, with at least two (2) years in professional services.
- Law firm experience strongly preferred.
Pay
The salary ranges for this position are as follows, with the actual offered amount determined by factors such as education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity:
- Miami, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, and Tampa: $83,200 to $124,800
- Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, and San Diego: $91,500 to $137,300
- Los Angeles: $95,700 to $143,500
- Boston and Washington D.C.: $99,800 to $149,800
