Senior Solutions Architect, Startups, HCLS
About the role
Startups are the large enterprises of the future. These young companies are founded by ambitious people who have a desire to build something meaningful and to challenge the status quo — to address underserved customers or to challenge incumbents. They usually operate in an environment of scarcity: whether that's capital, engineering resource, or experience. The AWS Startup Solutions Architecture team is dedicated to working with these early‑stage startup companies as they build their businesses, helping them deploy the best, most scalable, most secure, cost‑effective, and easy‑to‑operate architectures while spending as little time and money as possible.
In this role you will work directly with a variety of interesting customers, helping them make the best (and sometimes the most pragmatic) technical decisions as they grow. You'll build enduring relationships and establish yourself as a trusted advisor. You'll also have dedicated time to keep your skills fresh across AWS's 175+ services, advocate with product teams to ensure we build the right products for startups, and share knowledge broadly through technical content and events.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with startup customers to provide technical advocacy as they build products in the cloud, ensuring minimal time and cost.
- Create plans, in conjunction with customer account teams, defining how to help customers with their cloud needs.
- Share technical knowledge broadly by participating in startup‑focused one‑to‑few and one‑to‑many sessions with larger groups of customers.
- Work with other AWS teams (e.g., marketing, training) to create content delivered to the broader startup community at scale (online videos, digital content, etc.).
- Work closely with startup customers to understand their technical requirements, business objectives, and growth plans, then architect AWS‑based solutions that align with their goals.
- Lead technical discussions, present best practices, and guide startups on AWS architecture, services, and solutions to ensure scalability, performance, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Sales, Product, and Support to provide comprehensive solutions addressing specific startup needs and driving successful outcomes.
- Design and implement proof‑of‑concepts (POCs) and reference architectures to showcase the value of AWS services and demonstrate potential business impact.
- Stay up‑to‑date with AWS services, industry trends, and best practices; share this knowledge within the team and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Participate in workshops, webinars, and events to evangelize AWS solutions for startups and contribute to the growth of the AWS startup ecosystem.
A day in the life
You'll spend time working directly with startup customers — understanding their constraints, architecting solutions, and guiding them through implementation. You'll collaborate with account teams to plan engagements, build POCs and reference architectures, and contribute to scalable content (videos, blogs, workshops) that reaches a broader audience. You'll also dedicate time to learning new AWS services, providing product feedback, and representing the startup voice internally.
