About the role

As a Senior Solutions Engineer at KNIME, you are a strategic technical partner to prospects and customers throughout the sales lifecycle. You will work with the largest and most strategic accounts in the Americas, combining curiosity, technical depth, business acumen, and strong communication skills to help organizations solve data, analytics, automation, and AI challenges. You own the technical strategy for assigned opportunities—from discovery and solution design through demonstration, technical validation, and expansion—while engaging specialist resources as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Discovery and Sales Strategy: Conduct structured discovery, translate challenges into use cases and requirements, develop technical strategy with the account team, identify technical champions, and communicate across stakeholders.
  • Design and Demonstrate Solutions: Map requirements to KNIME capabilities, build and deliver tailored demonstrations, run workshops, prototypes, and proofs of concept, and define clear objectives for technical evaluations.
  • Guide Enterprise Architecture and Technical Validation: Advise on SaaS vs. self‑managed deployment, navigate cloud architecture, identity, security, governance, and integration topics, and help customers evaluate AI/GenAI use cases.
  • Grow the Customer Relationship: Identify broader adoption opportunities, surface new use cases, ensure strong technical handoffs to post‑sale teams, and mitigate technical risk for adoption, expansion, or renewal.
  • Contribute to a High‑Performing Solutions Organization: Maintain accurate technical context in Salesforce, share market insights, create reusable assets, mentor peers, and stay current on analytics, data engineering, AI, and cloud developments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, pre‑sales, technical consulting, data consulting, or a comparable customer‑facing technical role in enterprise software.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery, design solutions, deliver demonstrations, and guide complex technical evaluations.
  • Strong understanding of modern data and analytics concepts (data integration, transformation, ETL/ELT, analytics, automation, machine learning, AI).
  • Familiarity with SQL and at least one analytical or programming environment such as Python or R.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise SaaS and cloud architecture, including APIs, authentication, SSO/identity, security, governance, and integration patterns.
  • Growing fluency with modern AI and GenAI architectures (LLMs, AI providers, retrieval patterns, agents, governance, responsible AI).
  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect technology decisions to business outcomes.
  • Excellent presentation, storytelling, workshop facilitation, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex, multi‑stakeholder enterprise buying processes while staying focused on customer outcomes.
  • Comfort operating autonomously, prioritizing multiple opportunities, and collaborating across a matrixed organization.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands‑on experience with KNIME Analytics Platform or KNIME Business Hub.
  • Experience with adjacent data and analytics platforms such as Alteryx, Dataiku, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar.
  • Experience selling or supporting enterprise SaaS, analytics, data, automation, or AI platforms.
  • Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience supporting enterprise security, architecture, or AI‑governance conversations.
  • Familiarity with structured discovery, qualification, and value‑selling methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Account Executives, Customer Success, Product, and Professional Services teams in a SaaS organization.

What Success Looks Like

Success is measured by creating customer confidence, establishing clear technical value, removing risk from the buying process, and contributing to sustainable revenue growth.
