About the role
The Senior Software Engineering Manager, Supply Chain leads the Transport Planning & Routing domain within Wayfair's Supply Chain and Retail Technology organization. This high-impact role involves overseeing the reliable, cost-effective movement of goods from supplier intake to last-mile delivery. The manager builds and scales the systems that power Wayfair's global logistics ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 5-9 engineers responsible for building and scaling the platforms that power Supply Chain Systems at Wayfair.
- Own the technical output of your team across design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Partner closely with Product Managers to define roadmaps, shape requirements, and ensure delivery against a clear mission and KPIs.
- Provide mentorship and coaching through 1:1s, code reviews, and career development support, fostering a culture of growth, inclusion, and technical excellence.
- Raise the bar on engineering best practices – driving improvements in reliability, scalability, and velocity.
- Collaborate across Supply Chain and Retail Technology and broader Wayfair Engineering to establish and leverage common APIs, services, and frameworks.
- Partner with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Design, Analytics, and Operations to build solutions that address complex customer and business needs.
- Engage your team in technical roadmap planning, ensuring long-term sustainability and innovation alongside near-term delivery.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in a technical leadership or people management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven success leading teams that deliver scalable, distributed systems, services, or integrations in a complex business environment.
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to dive deep into architecture and design decisions while enabling your team’s autonomy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical and business perspectives.
- Experience collaborating with Product, Design, Analytics, and business stakeholders to define and deliver impactful solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers at varying levels of experience.
- A bias toward action, with a passion for iterating quickly, testing, and learning to achieve customer and business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Understanding of supply chain logistics and transportation management systems.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with data warehousing and analytics tools like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
Skills

Pay
The annual base pay range for this role is USD 213,150.00 - USD 238,706.50, which may vary based on location and experience.
Schedule
This role is full-time and located in Boston, Massachusetts.
