Senior Manager, Software Engineering

About the role

Join us as a Capital One Sr. Manager Software Engineer and be part of a dynamic team driving significant transformations within Capital One. You'll lead technology projects, collaborate with product managers, and develop robust cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems
• Create solutions that meet regulatory needs for the company
• Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor others
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver powerful experiences that help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment
• Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go
• Work with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and various AWS tools and services

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 4 years of people management experience

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
• 3+ years of experience with open source frameworks
• 7+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• 2+ years of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go
• 6+ years of experience with open source frameworks
• 5+ years of people management experience
• 1+ years of experience in Agile practices
