The Position Arkatechture is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead to design, build, and deliver complex custom data and software solutions for Arkalytics customers through project-based Statements of Work (SOWs). This role serves as a senior technical contributor and leader within the Custom Services engineering lane, responsible for architecting ETL/ELT data pipelines, developing scalable automation, integrating APIs, and solving advanced data engineering challenges across customer environments. In addition to hands-on technical delivery, the Senior Engineer will play a key role in developing and supporting the growth of other engineers within the lane. This includes providing technical guidance and mentorship, helping engineers strengthen their skills and capabilities, and promoting consistent engineering standards and best practices. The Senior Engineer will also partner closely with the head of the lane to continuously improve the team’s day-to-day operations by refining processes, documentation, technical standards, and tooling. The Senior Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, analysts, engineers, and clients to translate requirements into effective technical solutions while ensuring quality, performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on engineering experience with modern data platforms, strong Python development skills, a track record of delivering production-grade solutions in cloud environments, and the ability to lead and develop other engineers while driving continuous improvement across the team. Key Responsibilities Take full accountability for assigned SOW tasks and deliverables, ensuring on-time delivery, quality execution, and high customer satisfactionAnalyze and resolve technical challenges within SOW scope by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions while adhering to change management proceduresGather requirements for data pipeline integration (ELT) development and data mapping (business logic)Drive the data discovery and file requirements processProactively monitor client batch cycle (ETL) processes, ensuring successful execution and responding quickly to failuresAutomate deployment processes and develop tools to monitor system health, reliability, and business-critical processesMaintain accurate task statuses and communicate progress, risks, issues, and dependencies to internal teams and clientsEscalate risks and issues in a timely manner and actively participate in daily standups and team discussionsBuild project estimates and partner with Project Managers on task planning and allocationEstablish and promote engineering best practices, technical standards, and consistent approaches across the Custom Services engineering laneProvide technical mentorship, guidance, and support to other engineers, helping them develop their skills, troubleshoot complex challenges, and grow in their rolesServe as a senior technical resource for the engineering team, providing guidance on solution design, architecture, and technical decision-makingPartner with other leaders to continuously evaluate and improve processes, documentation, standards, and tooling that support the team’s day-to-day operations and service deliveryIdentify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, quality, scalability, and consistency, and help drive those improvements through implementationFoster knowledge sharing across the engineering team by contributing to documentation, reusable solutions, and team learningCollaborate closely with Project Managers, analysts, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure successful client deliveryAdditional responsibilities as assigned Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a similar hands-on technical roleBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experienceAWS or Snowflake technical certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or above, or a comparable certificationStrong Python development experience, with a track record of building production-grade applications, automation, or data solutionsExperience with additional programming or scripting languages such as C#, JavaScript, or Go is a plusDemonstrated experience mentoring and developing other engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and ongoing feedbackExperience serving as a senior technical resource or technical lead, including influencing solution design, architecture, engineering standards, and technical decision-makingA continuous improvement mindset with experience identifying and implementing improvements to engineering processes, documentation, tooling, or development practicesExperience with containerization, orchestration, and cloud technologies such as Docker, ECS, Fargate, Kubernetes, microservices, and message queuesStrong Linux or Unix experienceExperience with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins or Bitbucket PipelinesExperience working with relational and cloud databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2Experience designing and integrating with REST APIs, SDKs, and CLI toolsExperience working with multiple data and file formats, including JSON, XML, CSV, and flat filesStrong understanding of software engineering, testing, version control, and deployment best practicesDemonstrated experience successfully designing and delivering multiple production software applications or data engineering projectsExperience working with Git, Jira, Confluence, and Slack in an Agile development environmentExposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB is a plusStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, analysts, and customersAbility to take ownership of complex technical problems, operate independently, and help others navigate challenges when the path forward is not immediately clear
