About the role
Close is building AI-powered sales software that helps small, scaling businesses sell more, faster. We’re a 100% remote, bootstrapped, and profitable team of about 120 people focused on building a best-in-class marketing website that serves as a critical touch point in our customers’ journey.
As the first Senior Software Engineer, Marketing, you’ll own the technical direction of Close.com, working closely with Marketing and a Marketing Designer while reporting into Engineering. You’ll maintain, optimize, and instrument the site, ensuring it’s fast, conversion-focused, and discoverable by both humans and AI agents.
Responsibilities
- Build and continuously improve a world-class marketing website that is responsive, highly interactive, and polished, bringing the product to life through animation and interactivity.
- Make the site fast and findable by owning performance, technical SEO, and how the site is indexed by search engines and AI agents.
- Manage the infrastructure behind the site: the platform (Sanity), components, integrations, and deployment.
- Own the technical integrity of site measurement and partner with Marketing on experiments; ensure tracking, attribution, conversion events, and funnel data are implemented correctly and flow reliably into marketing and data systems.
- Build tools that let Marketing self-serve and help the site self-improve, including automations and flows for shipping pages, campaigns, and experiments, as well as regression detection and performance/SEO monitoring.
- Act as an engineering resource to Marketing beyond the website, helping solve tricky problems and knowing when to loop in the right people.
Requirements
- 5+ years building beautiful, conversion-focused marketing websites.
- Experience with modern static-site frameworks (e.g., Astro) and headless CMS platforms (Sanity).
- Strong CSS, motion, and rich-media skills; deep focus on page speed and semantic markup.
- Fluency with analytics, experimentation tooling, and conversion measurement (Segment, Amplitude, Customer.io, or similar).
- Comfortable building systems that empower non-technical teammates to self-serve and move quickly.
- Experience using AI tools to accelerate work while maintaining discernment about when craftsmanship matters.
- Resourceful, collaborative, and adept at bridging Marketing and Engineering.
