Senior Software Development Manager
About the role
Solventum is a new healthcare company focused on solving complex challenges in healthcare to improve patient outcomes and professional performance. We are looking for a highly motivated leader to join our Health & Information Systems business unit. The successful candidate will lead the architecture and strategy for our enterprise-scale AI/ML data engineering platforms, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant AI solutions that support clinical insights, operational intelligence, and generative AI use cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct technical supervision of teams responsible for developing HIS products, including Developers and Quality Assurance.
- Aid the Technical Product Owner in delivering HIS grouping content under the existing technology stack while architecting and developing the replacement technology stack.
- Establish and prioritize the team's backlog in collaboration with Tech Leads.
- Mentor development staff in areas such as analysis, software design, prototyping, coding, debugging, test case creation, test case automation, test case execution, documentation, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Participate in cross-functional teams, coordinate with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Developers, and others.
- Create an environment of innovation and facilitate professional growth.
- Manage conflict and change within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited university.
- At least 10 years of software development experience.
- At least 3 years of team leadership experience.
- At least 2 years of experience leading the design and delivery of agent-based AI frameworks and systems in production environments.
- At least 2 years of deep expertise in LLM architecture and orchestration frameworks, and model routing.
- At least 6 years of strong background in building scalable distributed systems using modern backend technologies (Python/Java), microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud providers.
- Demonstrated ability to design and enforce AI safety, guardrails, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with building evaluation and observability systems for AI agents, including automated testing, human-in-the-loop validation, tracing, and scalability.
- Experience with consuming Web services and web application development (SOAP/REST, JavaScript/Angular).
- Experience with CI/CD.
- Experience with Java software development.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational database design.
- Experience with Agile methodology and working with distributed team members.
- Ability to solve problems logically, methodically, and efficiently.
- Ability to direct and influence others.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $187,600 - $257,950, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. Specific compensation will vary based on factors including relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
Schedule
The role is remote, with up to 10% domestic travel possible.
