About The Role
As a Senior Snowflake Data Engineer / Technical Lead, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, high-performance data solutions that support analytics, operational reporting, and business decision-making. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, data stewards, architects, analysts, and engineering teams to build modern cloud-based data platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Snowflake data models, schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Build and optimize scalable data ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and data quality frameworks.
- Develop advanced SQL and Python-based solutions to support enterprise data engineering and analytics initiatives.
- Drive Snowflake platform performance, workload management, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while ensuring adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to data engineers and developers.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, testing, deployment planning, and production support activities.
- Support project planning, estimation, technical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Analytics Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake development and architecture.
- Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Advanced SQL development and Python programming experience.
- Proven experience building enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and analytics solutions.
- Hands-on experience with data quality, data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and exception management processes.
- Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, data security, and access management best practices.
- Experience collaborating with business users, data stewards, analysts, architects, and engineering teams.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve complex data engineering and platform performance issues.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
Qualifications
- Experience with Snowpark and modern Python-based data engineering frameworks.
- Experience implementing enterprise data quality platforms, controls, and monitoring solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud-native data architectures and modern data platform ecosystems.
- Exposure to AI/ML applications in data engineering, metadata management, or data quality automation.
- Experience within Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
- Demonstrated success mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices across delivery teams.
Benefits
- The annual salary for this position is between $88,000 - $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
- This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
