About the role
We are seeking a self-motivated, data-oriented Senior Product Engineer to join our team in San Jose, Rose Orchard Fab. This position will oversee new chip product introduction, production ramp, yield sustaining, and improvement in foundries to support Lumentum's business needs and demands in High Power Laser business.
Responsibilities
- Drive yield improvement and product cost reduction post production ramp from Fabrication to Final test.
- Perform statistical data analysis and troubleshoot potential root causes for yield excursion in foundries.
- Run process vs product parameter correlation to understand process/product margin and drive improvement.
- Monitor and review day-to-day operations with foundries to meet quality and delivery goals.
- Drive yield improvement and product cost reduction post production ramp in foundries.
- Support engineering material disposition.
- Support failure analysis for production and RMAs.
- Close quality cases and enforce foundry quality improvement.
- Support failure analysis for NPI and sustaining products and RMAs.
- Coordinate with R&D, Product Engineering, process integration, and contract manufacturers to provide faster responses to customers for field failures.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, applied physics, or other relevant fields.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor device process/physics.
- Strong statistical data analysis skills and experience (JMP or Minitab).
- 0-3 years of hands-on experience in device design, wafer process, device assembly, and testing for either optoelectronics or semiconductor devices.
- Experience with III-V epi design and growth and familiarity with VCSEL or EEL.
- Familiarity with foundry operation models.
- Familiarity with failure analysis tools of semiconductor devices.
Qualifications
Must have a strong background in electrical engineering, materials science, or related fields.
