About the Team

The Optics Operations Product Engineering team partners with a cross-functional group of development engineers to design and sustain optical transceiver components and modules throughout their product lifecycle. Product Engineers are self-motivated, results-oriented, and innovative thinkers who deliver creative solutions.

Your Impact

Optics Operations enables and accelerates innovation to create an unrivaled customer experience and competitive advantage for Cisco through end-to-end operational leadership and product lifecycle management. In this role, you will support Cisco’s next-generation optics product portfolio as a key member of the Optics Operations Engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with foundries to drive failure analysis, reduce yield loss, and improve yield through process optimization.
  • Work with internal DFT and test teams to bring up and optimize test flows, set up specifications, and analyze ATE/WAT data to evaluate process corners and yield sensitivity.
  • Improve test coverage to screen downstream failures in collaboration with DFT and engineering teams.
  • Correlate ATE test results with bench and system-level tests.
  • Own overall yield roadmaps, cost analysis, and continuous yield improvement initiatives.
  • Engage with wafer equipment suppliers, foundries, contract manufacturers, and test vendors to address quality and performance issues.
  • Establish manufacturing metrics to drive continuous improvement of equipment performance and processes to meet wafer product specifications.
  • Drive characterization of NPI and sustaining product yields, including benchmark correlations, to meet or exceed product cost and equipment capacity targets.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Proven experience working with CMOS/Memory foundries or fabless design companies.
  • Track record of transitioning products from NPI to high-volume production through contract manufacturing partners.
  • Experience with advanced CMOS technology nodes (7nm and beyond).
  • Knowledge and experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) during product development.
  • Analytical skills in troubleshooting, JMP scripting, Python, or AI models for automated yield prediction and monitoring.
  • Background in product development tasks, including Bill of Materials and Change Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Advantest 93k ATE for high-performance semiconductor devices.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Optics or Silicon Photonics experience is a plus.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $154,900 to $225,300 for new hires in U.S. and Canada locations (excluding incentive compensation, equity, or benefits). Individual pay is determined by hiring location, market conditions, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and training. Below are the full salary ranges for specific locations:

  • New York City Metro Area: $154,900 - $259,100
  • Non-Metro New York State & Washington State: $136,500 - $228,300

For quota-based sales roles, the ranges include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

  • Eligibility for grants of Cisco restricted stock units, vesting over defined employment periods.
