About the role

The Oncology research department at BR is recruiting a Senior Scientist to join their Target Discovery and Biology group based in Cambridge, MA. This role is offered through Magnit Global, a third-party provider, who will be your employer if selected. You will provide services to Novartis as the end client, but you will not be an employee of Novartis and will not be eligible for Novartis employee benefits or incentives.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out cutting-edge research in oncology, collaborating with other research groups within BR.
  • Generate high-quality data to support the identification and validation of new targets.
  • Use a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques to unravel the cellular mechanisms that regulate target function.
  • Assess new state-of-the-art technologies and explore their potential for enhancing target identification and complex-disease modeling.
  • Design, perform, and interpret in vitro experiments under the leadership of the Lab Head.
  • Propose experimental alternatives, explore, and introduce novel technologies and approaches.
  • Analyze and effectively report data, as well as present findings in team meetings.
  • Critically read the literature and apply it to the project.
  • Closely work with multiple teams across expertise groups within Oncology.
  • Efficiently contribute to maintaining a functional laboratory, technical equipment, and tools.

Requirements

  • MSc or BSc or qualified Lab Technician (apprenticeship/vocational training) in cellular biology, molecular biology, or another relevant discipline (no PhD).
  • At least 2-5 years of biomedical research experience.
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience in applying a wide range of cellular and molecular biological methods (CRISPR, qRT-PCR, cloning, cell culture, cell viability/death assays, transient/stable cell line generation, immunoblotting, FACS), and softwares such as Microsoft Office, Prism, Spotfire.
  • Experience using basic bioinformatics tools to support experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation is considered a plus.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (oral/written).
  • Used to successfully working within a highly productive and fast-paced environment.
  • Highly collaborative and self-motivated team player with critical scientific thinking.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
