Senior Scientist

About the role

The Senior Scientist will provide onsite support to DARPA's Microsystems Technology Office (MTO), playing a key role in breakthroughs and innovative technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate or lead all activities in project management, technical and programmatic risk analysis, program-funded test coordination, and coordination with members of the Department of Defense for transition.
• Coordinate meetings, assess performer technical progress, project performer outcomes, and ensure project management best practices are followed.
• Develop point papers, slide decks, and other materials to convey the need, status, and importance of a program.
• Research unique problem set ideas to aid in National Security priorities.
• Conceive, plan, and conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
• Offer recommendations, solutions, and alternatives to resolve complex R&D issues, concerns, problems, or methods in areas related to DARPA Technical Offices.
• Provide strategic scientific guidance on cutting-edge research initiatives.

Requirements

• Master's Degree
• Active DOD Secret clearance of the ability to obtain one
• 15+ years of experience
• Senior-level experience in progressively more difficult levels in planning and developing technical projects of a research and development nature, concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major Department of War (DOW) programs.
• Demonstrated skill in conceiving, planning, and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
• Successfully demonstrated the ability to independently conduct the appropriate analysis to offer recommendations, solutions, and alternatives to resolve complex R&D issues, concerns, problems, or methods in areas related to DARPA Technical Offices.
• Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles within technical organizations and providing strategic scientific guidance on cutting-edge research initiatives.
• Recognized as an expert in their field of study or technology.
• Extensive published articles in Field of Expertise with demonstrated thought leadership and recognition within the broader scientific community.
