We are seeking a talented individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Scientist. This is a full-time position based in our San Francisco office.

About the role

Every day, you will be responsible for driving innovation within our research and development department. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop new fermentation processes and optimize existing ones. Your primary focus will be on advancing our microbial engineering capabilities and ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of fermentation experiments to improve product performance and yield.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement new methodologies for microbial strain selection and optimization.
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on the latest advancements in fermentation technology and microbiology.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and proposals to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fermentation science and process development.
  • Strong understanding of microbial physiology and genetics.
  • Experience with downstream processing techniques and analytical methods.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successful project leadership and execution.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Skills

  • Expertise in microbial fermentation and bioprocessing.
  • Knowledge of protein engineering and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with process optimization and scale-up.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Pay

Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
