Senior Safety Manager- Solar
SUMMARY
Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to oversee the implementation of the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project teams and construction sites. The role involves rotational travel schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, lead, and manage the implementation of Zero Injury Safety Program elements and initiatives
- Collaborate with safety programs across different organizations, including trade partners and joint-venture partners
- Conduct and review site hazard assessments during planning and construction phases
- Create and deliver safety training, including train-the-trainer sessions and group-specific safety orientation content
- Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety, injury, and hazard statistics
- Maintain oversight of onsite construction activities through audits and observations, documenting deficiencies and corrective actions
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis, and coach safety managers in high-risk plan reviews
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Safety staff, including development opportunities and learning sessions
- Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant standards, regulations, and procedures
- Support the operating group safety director and safety leadership team in achieving and maintaining safety performance metrics, and assist in incident response as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field OR High school diploma plus CHST, OSHA 500 and at least 14 years of continuous construction experience
- At least 8 years as a dedicated construction safety professional managing large project/multi-project safety programs
- Experience working on large, complex projects with a high volume of subcontractor workers
- Managing a team of safety professionals preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Organizational and computer skills to support multiple project teams
- Positive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills, and ability to interpret and communicate company policies
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills, strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to coach and influence operating group and project leaders in safety management
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%

Pay Range
The base pay range for this role is $113,500 MIN - $170,300 MAX. (Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
