Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and manage the implementation of Zero Injury Safety Program elements and initiatives throughout the operating group
- Lead and support safety program collaboration across multiple organizations, including trade partners and joint-venture partners
- Conduct and review site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction phases
- Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training, including train-the-trainer sessions, and create group-specific safety orientation content
- Oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of all Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reports
- Monitor onsite construction activities through audits and observations, documenting deficiencies and corrective actions
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis, and coach safety managers in high-risk plan review
- Provide professional direction and mentorship to Safety staff, including development opportunities and hosting learning sessions
- Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, and procedures
- Support the operating group safety director and safety leadership team in achieving and maintaining safety performance metrics, and assist in incident response as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field OR High school diploma plus CHST, OSHA 500 and a minimum of 14 years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work (including at least eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing large project and/or multi-project safety programs, conducting and reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and working with project teams and leadership to plan work activities)
- At least eight years as a dedicated construction safety professional managing large project/multi-project safety program, conducting hazard analyses, developing controls, and conducting safety training
- Experience working on large, complex projects with a high volume of subcontractor workers
- Managing a team of safety professionals preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Organizational and computer skills to support multiple project teams, acting as regional/market safety lead where appropriate
- Positive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills, and ability to interpret and communicate company policies
- Effective public speaking and presentation skills, strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to coach and influence operating group and project leaders in safety management
- Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback

- Valid driver’s license
