Responsibilities
- Manage the enterprise-wide telematics program to monitor high-risk behaviors such as speeding, harsh braking, and distracted driving
- Leverage real-time data to drive field performance, overseeing targeted coaching and process discipline for technicians to prevent common rear-end collisions and other unsafe driving behaviors
- Utilize GPS tracking to optimize right-hand routing, reducing failure to yield incidents
- Enhance and modernize the Defensive Driver Safety Program, moving beyond basic training to incorporate advanced techniques tailored for service van and truck maneuvers in residential and high-traffic areas
- Design and deploy a proprietary safety model that embeds safety protocols directly into the technician’s end-to-end service workflow (from en route to arrival and inspection to treatment and departure)
- Partner with Operations and IT to integrate safety "hard stops" and digital checklists, including identifying route hazards, into the mobile service application, ensuring safety isn't an afterthought but a core part of the service delivery
- Host post-incident calls, facilitating discussion to determine the root cause and preventative measures
- Develop proactive programs relative to hazard identification/assessments to combat the industry's most frequent claims: slips, trips, and falls, often caused by uneven ground or backpack sprayers affecting balance
- Implement safety protocols for high-severity risks, using ergonomics to reduce strain and sprain risks
- Develop a comprehensive field observation program that goes beyond basic compliance to identify "near-misses" in ever-changing environments
- Collaborate with operations managers to ensure the effective use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to chemical labels and SDS instructions
- Analyze safety KPIs to identify "signal assessments" in injury trends, specifically looking for correlations between schedule pressure and incident rates
- Prepare executive-level dashboards that visualize the ROI of safety initiatives in terms of reduced insurance premiums and improved operational efficiency
