Senior Roadway and Bridge CEI Inspector

RK&K is seeking talented Senior Roadway and Bridge Inspectors to work in the Knoxville/Tri-Cities area, focusing on providing construction engineering inspection services for transportation projects.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will work independently with multiple transportation clients and contractors, overseeing construction engineering inspection (CEI) projects and supervising teams of inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region
  • Oversee contractor’s quality control operations
  • Perform quality assurance sampling and testing
  • Complete Daily Sampling and Testing Reports
  • Input data in SiteManager/LIMS
  • Maintain daily communication with clients, contractors, and field project personnel

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years of prior experience providing Construction Engineering Inspection services
  • Solid background in mathematics
  • Ability to read and follow test specifications
  • Excellent driving record
  • Experience supervising teams of inspectors and/or site management

Preferred Qualifications

  • TDOT Asphalt Plant Technician certification
  • TDOT Concrete Field Technician/ACI Grade 1 certification
  • TDOT HMA Certified Roadway Inspector certification
  • Aggregate Technician certification
  • TDOT Concrete Plant Technician certification
  • Nuclear Gauge Field Technician certification

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs
  • Lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds occasionally
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and construction-related hazards
