Senior Research Associate

POSITION PURPOSE

Conduct research and support the research activities of the research group led by Professor On Shun Pak at Santa Clara University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct research projects and support research development
• Assist in the design of research program and development of proposal for research funding
• Assist in supervising students in the research group
• Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research
• Lab management, including administrative and management work associated with the research program
• Other duties as assigned.

PROVIDES WORK DIRECTION

• Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate student researchers in Professor On Shun Pak’s research group

QUALIFICATIONS

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
• Knowledge in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics, and soft matter physics.
• Theoretical and/or computational skills in fluid mechanics, microhydrodynamics and soft matter physics.
• Perform research in fluid mechanics and soft matter physics.
• Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or closely related fields
• 2 Years Of Theoretical/computational Research Experience Required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal.
• May be required to travel to other buildings on the campus.
• May be required to attend conference and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
• May be required to occasionally travel to outside customers, vendors or suppliers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Typical office and laboratory environment.
