Senior Associate
About the role
The Senior Associate will play a key role in supporting and executing client engagements across Civitas’ portfolio. This position involves close collaboration with internal teams and clients, providing direct exposure to big-picture policy and strategy development alongside some of the nation’s leading political, policy, and thought leaders.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of today’s political and public policy landscape. The ideal candidate is highly versatile, with experience in issue advocacy and/or campaigns, a solid foundation in project management, and a demonstrated ability to use advocacy tools and tactics to drive measurable results. Experience working in or with government, as well as in policy, organizing, or coalition-building environments, is preferred.
Accountabilities and Qualifications
- Manage client engagement, produce content, and meet deliverables.
- Provide expert internal and external project management across workstreams.
- Conduct research and maintain a strong understanding of legislation and policy.
- Produce high-quality written products, including white papers, policy briefs, and presentations that are client-ready.
- Provide project, event, and meeting support along with other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience, with a track record of successful execution of public affairs, policy, or electoral campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience in project and client management.
- Excellent written and oral communication, advocacy, and analytic skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet established deadlines.
- Self-starter with ability to take initiative and manage time independently.
- Strong computer, web, and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Willingness to serve as a team player with high impact and low ego.
- Creative, out-of-the-box thinker with excellent judgement, a curious spirit and a sense of humor is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in public policy or related field is a plus.
- Willingness to travel as needed for meetings and convenings.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $90,000-$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This is a hybrid position that will require 3 days per week in the New York City/DC/Boston office.
